Case registered after petrol bomb thrown at Tamil Nadu Governor's house
Hours after the petrol bomb attack on Raj Bhavan in Chennai, the police on Thursday registered a case. The case was registered under sections 436 (Mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to destroy house, etc), 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 506(ii) (Punishment for criminal intimidation) of the IPC, Act 3 of the Explosive Substances Act and 4 of TNPPDL Act. A man, who was arrested, threw a Molotov cocktail, locally referred to as a ‘petrol bomb’, at the main gate of the governor’s residence on Wednesday. At around 2.45 pm on Wednesday, history-sheeter, Karuka Vinoth, threw two containers of petrol at the main gate of Raj Bhavan. He had walked from Saidapet Court where he had taken petrol from parked motorbikes. Vinoth then set two bottles on fire and threw them at the main gate of Raj Bhavan.
