Janhvi Kapoor on Preventing Sridevi at Dhadak: Addressing 'Unfair Advantage.
In a recent interview with Agenda Aaj Tak, Bollywood sensation Janhvi Kapoor opened up about her initial reservations regarding being the daughter of the legendary late actor, Sridevi. The young starlet candidly discussed how she once felt she had an 'unfair advantage' due to her famous lineage.

During the conversation, Janhvi recalled her debut film, Dhadak, and how she consciously distanced herself from her mother, Sridevi, who she considered 'the best actor to come out of India.' In an attempt to prove herself on her own terms, Janhvi admitted to rejecting advice and even preventing her mother from visiting the sets.
"I used to feel as if I had an unfair advantage, a trump card thinking ‘How many people have access to Sridevi Kapoor, who is the best actor to come out of India?’ I used to feel that it’s already an unfair advantage, it will be more unfair if I take her advice," Janhvi expressed in Hindi.
Looking back, Janhvi acknowledged that her actions were "very silly" and a source of regret. She revealed that she now realizes her mother was eager to support her on set and that she denied her that opportunity. The actress admitted, "I think it’s one of the biggest regrets because sometimes I feel like if I just said ‘Mumma, I have a shoot, please come quickly.' Maybe she would have been there."
However, Janhvi has come full circle in her perspective and is now proud of her identity as the daughter of Sridevi and Boney Kapoor. She emphasized, "I am now very proud of being my parents’ daughter. If people want to do a moral debate on whether Janhvi Kapoor being Sridevi’s daughter is right or wrong, you can’t, because that’s the truth.”
Janhvi Kapoor, who made a successful debut in 2018 with Dhadak, is set to grace the screen once again in upcoming projects like Devara and Mr And Mrs Mahi. Despite initial hesitations, Janhvi has embraced her legacy, proving herself as a talented actor in her own right. The Shashank Khaitan-directed Dhadak, a Hindi remake of the Marathi film Sairat, was a commercial hit and marked the beginning of Janhvi's promising career in the film industry.
