The national space agency headquartered here said the spacecraft has now achieved a “near-circular orbit” around the moon. Post its launch on July 14, Chandrayaan-3 entered into the lunar orbit on August 5, following which two orbit reduction manoeuvres were carried out on August 6 and 9. “Orbit circularisation phase commences. Precise manoeuvre performed today has achieved a near-circular orbit of 150 km x 177 km,” ISRO said in a tweet. The next operation is planned for August 16, around 8:30 am, it said. Nine dead in Shimla temple collapse, several feared trapped

The police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) officials are carrying out rescue operations at the Lord Shiva temple in the Summer Hill area. Several houses were reportedly buried under the mud and slush brought down by the landslide in the Fagli area. As many as nine people died and dozens are feared trapped after a Shiv temple in Himachal Pradesh’s Shimla collapsed due to heavy rain on Monday, the State CM said. “Distressing news has emerged from Shimla, where the Shiv Mandir at Summer Hill collapsed as a result of the heavy rainfall. As of now, nine bodies have been retrieved. The local administration is diligently working to clear the debris in order to rescue individuals who may still be trapped. Om Shanti,” he tweeted. CHENNAI: The father of the 19-year-old boy who died by suicide allegedly after failing to clear the NEET exam twice, died by suicide early Monday morning. The police said that the man must have been depressed by the loss of his son. P Selvasekar (48), a resident of Kurinji Nagar in Chromepet, ran a photo studio in the locality. His son S Jegadeeswaran was living with him. He had separated from his wife a few years ago. He allegedly killed himself after he returned home from finishing his son’s cremation rituals, police said. His body was sent to Chromepet Government Hospital for a postmortem.
